This book is in good condition with somesoiling and rubbing covers; there is some sun stain on the pages; the first page has some writing on it but I did not see any writing on the rest of the pages; the pages are readable, clean and tight. Chapters include: fifty paces up from the quays of Southampton, the ancient walled town on the test in Itchen river of England, stood the mapmaker’s shop where the gilt and varnished sign, grimy and blistered hung out above the buckled doorways, announcing: Richard Osbourne, Geographers. The cobbled street carried a single open gutter to drain household slops and rain water to the harbor below; in summer it stank, in winter it ran like a mountain stream, summer and winter depressed hens wandered about in the shadows cast by the overhanging, timbered shops, dwelling and warehouse, and much, much more. This book does not have illustrations. Thanks for looking.
